Westholme School, established in 1923, is a successful, co-educational, independent school located on the rural outskirts of Blackburn. The school is based across 3 sites, providing a first class education to around 800 pupils, aged 3 months – 18 years.

The Post:

We seek a well-qualified, dedicated and inspirational graduate to be responsible for teaching Computing and Computer Science across all age ranges. The subject sits within the Maths Faculty and the successful candidate will join a friendly and supportive team of six full-time teaching staff. A willingness to be involved in extracurricular activities such as competitions and educational visits is essential, and other interests which are particular strengths of the successful candidate would also be welcome.

There is a possibility the post could be part-time (0.8 FTE) and we would welcome applicants who would prefer a part-time role.

The Subject:

• Computing is taught as a compulsory subject in Key Stage 3, currently with one 45-minute lesson per class per week. 
• The subject is popular at GCSE with both boys and girls and is offered at A Level if there is sufficient interest. 
• There may be the opportunity to teach in the Primary phase as well, depending on timetable commitments.
• The subject is well equipped and resourced and comprises three specialist IT rooms as well as having access to resources including iPads and a 3D printer.

Consideration for the right candidate would be given for an April start.
